what are some good gaming computers and locations where i can get one?

By gaming computer i mean good graphics and high speed/no lag. I have heard like tigerdirect (but it looks kind of fake). and i have never been to newegg, places where you can "build" your own computer. Its going to be my Christmas gift, and it needs to be between 0-1000.
I have heard some people say places like wal-mart too. Any suggestions are welcome

With store bought systems you often get low tier graphics cards and dell/hp motherboard and ram. These sites listed above will let you customize your machine to the max.
You may want to post here http://www.worldsinchaos.com and we will give you advise of parts to buy as it is cheaper to build than buy premade.
i built my own and i saved soooo much money i have 3GB of ram, 3.0 Ghz CPU, Radeon 4850 graphics card and awesome intel motherboard, and i did it all for just $660 including samsung 19” monitor with 2ms refresh rate.
Sweeeet you should do it. if you do get a radeon 4850 graphics card like what i have. it is only $200 and it is better than all of Nvidia’s graphics cards.
I think you need something called a ‘desktop’. Compaqs and HPs are great. If you want to like, customize, I would recommend you build a compie yourself.
Buy a nVidia GeForce 8800 GTX or better, an AMD processor, or even better, with 4.0 GHz, if you can afford, or at least 3.0 GHz for zero lag. Also, look for speakers and sound cards compatible with Dolby 5.1 Digital Surround. An HD monitor from Samsung or better is reommended. The CPU and RAM are one of the most important components, and I would recommend a 3 GB RAM, minimum.
Now for the most interesting part… the operating system (OS). For only gaming, look for Vista Home Premium. For more details, search for the comparison chart on the Microsoft site.

U canot buy THE BEST gaming computer, i mean acers ar ok dells ar stuped and so on, but if u whant the best gaming pc u need to build it yourself! i usaly goto newegg.com, they have great deals sometimes also check stors like best buy and staples for good deals, the best time to build a pc is during a holaday!
