I have tried looking at microcenter, office depot, and best buy. Needs to be a retail and when i try looking at gaming, it shows only alienware. Then when i try looking at the specifications, it only ends up have an intel HD.

Are good graphics card just not put in computers? Like will i have to buy one separate?

I now own one computer in my home. It is a desktop with a tower.
My internet connection is a cable that comes through the wall and plugs into a cable modem, this modem provides internet service (128K) to this desktop pc.
Within a few weeks or months I plan to buy a new (or possibly refurbished) laptop. Question: Will I need to connect my new laptop to this cable modem? Someone told me since the laptop will likely be "wireless" that I will NOT have to attach the laptop to the cable modem.
Then someone else told me that even though the laptop I buy will be likely be a "wireless laptop" that I will still have to find a way to connect the laptop to the cable modem to have an internet connection.
Any suggestions ?
Someone said "Even if the laptop needs to be connected to the cable modem, you can get around running a cable from the laptop to the cable modem by going to Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Compusa, etc. and buy a Belkin (or some other brand) wireless routing device….this will eliminate the need for cable running from the cable modem to the laptop" Any suggestions?

Well…I can find a computer with a i7 processor, and 8gbs of ram at best buy easily. The graphics card could use a upgrade but overall the two gaming computers at bestbuy.com look fairly good.

Why is it that everyone thinks that pre-built computers don’t work well enough? Putting away value. Tried to build a computer but my mom wouldn’t let me…She thinks it costs more.

I want to get a good computer for gaming and school, but I can only get it from somewhere like Best Buy or Target. What would be a good one to buy?

Can anyone find some cheap gaming computers (preferably laptops but will take desktop if nothing worthwhile comes up) that can handle games like Fallout 3 and Mass Effect 2 with no problems? I’m looking for something under 0 if at all possible but no more than 0. I really prefer the laptop for the ease of travel so that’s why it’s my preference but again, if nothing notable turns up then desktops will have to do.

I know I can’t expect much with a limited budget but I do want something that can handle games like Oblivion and Fallout 3 with at least the same speed as my 360. If that’s not possible then I guess I’ll settle for some good desktops still in the same price range.

*Sighs* I had thought I was going to build a gaming computer-But my mom just says ‘oh we will get whatever is on sale’ my brother says ‘why don’t you get the same computer I did. Building a computer is dangerous.’ Figures. I guess people just don’t trust 15 year olds to make decisions….And I was literally looking for hours at different parts…

Has everyone ever brought a gaming computer at best buy? Other stores like radio shack (do they even have computers) and Frys too.

Lol! Exactly…Let me say how my mom got that mind set. My brother few months ago got 20000$ so he built a computer Randomly. The price somehow wound up to 4000…

Right now I have a good amount(for a 15 year old girl) of knowledge about processors and graphics cards…Because of days of researching all the best components and computers for my budget. Before I simply had no idea of all this stuff. Well…I guess I could try pointing out the difference in building an buying.
Built a computer @ best buy

Can i go to a best buy and buy a refurbished laptop there, or do i have to order one off the internet. Is there any way to tell if a specific best buy has a specific laptop?

i’m looking for a good gaming computer that cost 00 or less
it doesn’t have to be the best but atleast strong enough to play todays game
ex: 4 shader, duo( atleast 2.5ghz) if single core 3ghz etc.

i checked best buy and alien ware but they were a bit pricey,unless u find me a cheap one, that will be helpfull

I was looking at a laptop of good quality that was refurbished on the best buy website that is in my price range and wanted to know that can I go to the store and buy it or does a refurbished laptop have to be bought online?

I am looking for a laptop on the best buy website and they only have two gaming computers. The cheapest one is 849.99. I really dont want to spend that much. I really only want it for the Sims 3 and using the internet occasionally. So is it really that important to get a gaming computer?
I am also looking at another laptop(not for gaming) and it has 2.0 ghz. Does that mean it will slow down the games?

I was checking out best buy for computers. and they have these certain laptop computers called alienware for gaming? is there much of a difference vs these and a regular computer for your regular games that you play? I guess my 9 year old son and I play alot of games. sims, king kong, zoo tycoon.. Need something that has the capabilities to play these games as well as the correct video card and memory space.

if i want to buy a laptop from Best buy stores directly..can i pay using funds even credit cards or it will get complicated as always and need "special" credit card?

Need someone who is up to date on What features e.g. standard RAM, CPU, dedicated Graphics Card, and especially if the new standard of laptops will be more thinner and lighter with a boost in battery life. Decided to hold off on Getting a new gaming laptop and wait until hopefully this fall if not sooner when a new lineup of laptops will hit Best Buy.

I’m looking for a large store that sells computer components (to build my own PC) in the Denver Metro area. I’m aware of one called Micro Center in DTC, but is that my only option? I’m not looking for Best Buy/Circuit City type stores.
