the one you have is better. the processor has 3x the l3 cache, faster fsb, ddr3 memory vs ddr2, and i really doubt you will fill up a 250gb drive.

I love to play games on the computer. We subscribe to Shockwave.com. With our subscription we can download an unlimited amount of games to our computer. We have to have an Internet connection to play the games and it only works as long as we subscribe.

I love to play hidden-object games. They are incredibly addicting. I especially love games that have a story that goes along with it.

on your lsp top there is a funktion key FN right of the CTRL key press it it should give you the option to use a different monitor also depending on what GPA your using you should be able to right click on an empty place on your desk top open up your graphic card control panel and turn on from there make sure the monitor is pluged in snd turned on

Go for the Toshiba. i had one and it was a great computer! I now have a Dell, and I will never buy a Dell again. They mess up your computer from the start, by installing all types of crap ware! Go with the Toshiba, and buy a separate web cam, since interrogated web cams are usually not that great, and are poor quality.

Question by 33Q: Is buying those pre-packaged computers on those shopping channels a good idea?
I am borrowing this laptop from my friend right now, and would like to get one of my own. considering buying from SHOPNBC, HOME SHOPPING NETWORK (HSN), QVC. They often have deals with the printer, the computer, software and accessories included. I know there are the best buy stores, the walmarts kmarts costco to buy from but don;t u have to buy the software separately and in the end if that was the place i were to buy them from?

I don’t really need much of software, yet i feel might as well get a good deal. suggestions and feedback on this.

also, this popped into my head, is getting the biggest screen (about a 17) laptop better in the long run, thinking of either a 15 or 17″…

I would at least buy them retail, in case I need to return something.

I also don’t like package deals in principle. I would sooner buy the devices I want, when I want and am able to afford them, rather than being forced to buy an included device I may not want, or may be the lower end device.

As for screen size, I’d get the smaller one to remain portable, but get a bigger LCD monitor to use it as a desktop system.

Design it to fit an 800×600 resolution screen. Higher resolutions should view it ok..

The laptop is 17″ and hp. All of the sudden the screen turned off, but the laptop is still running. I turned the computer off and turned it back on to find the same thing. However, after that I got the microsoft loading page with blue lines running across the screen but I couldnt’ get further than that. What has happened to the laptop? How can I fix it? UH OH, I just posted a question about my HP….It did the same thing. Even the blue lines….And unfortunately after the blue lines, the screen no longer turned on, I went to a computer repair company, and the lap top is as good as trash…The mother board crashed and the blue lines were a sign of the crashing. Basically I dont know what to do either, but they couldnt even get my pics or documents from it…
Good luck calling HP, if u are out of warranty they wont do anything for u..I tried…

Before Miles was born I agreed with Nicki that I would give up my study to turn it into a nursery as long as I could get me a laptop. This would mean that I could work anywhere and wouldn’t need that big hunk of beige box and an unwieldy desk. Of course, this is when I got the Powerbook. My dream computer. Problem solved, you might think.

However, since I started doing more and more freelance work, my options were:

a) Working on a 12" screen on my lap (burning through my legs)
or
b) Bringing a big 17" CRT from the loft to the kitchen any time I needed any screen real estate

I’m sure you’ll agree that neither of these is a great option.

So this week, when I took on a fairly long run of projects, I decided it was time to bite the bullet and buy myself a monitor. The Wife agreed and told me to go out and buy one that day. I did. A 20.1" Formac Gallery Platinum.

It’s a gorgeous monitor, and it does look lovely on the kitchen table, but it’s still not an ideal working environment. I needed my desk back.

So here it is. I got it out of the loft this morning and butchered it to fit it into the alcove in the spare room. I bought myself an Apple keyboard from the Apple store yesterday, and got out the Mighty Mouse that I early-adopted and then never used.

This is my new desk setup and I’m loving it.

As we were almost ready to leave the laundromat, this big guy showed up totally drunk and half beat up. Erica and I were there by ourself and this guy looked very unpredicatble and was ready to fall at any moment. I told Erica not to worry, but it did make me nervous. He put some money down on a bench between Erica and I. In my rush to pack everything up and get out of there, I accidentally (honest) moved a 5 euro bill of his. Erica quickly caught the error and I was able to give it back without a problem. Shortly thereafter, he said Ciao! and stumbled out the door.

On the way back from the laundromat, we used a coupon at McDonalds for buy 1, get 1 free on Big Macs (not bad for 2.9 Euros). We stayed up long enough to get our stuff together and planned to get up early (6am) to check out the Duomo. Erica took a shower and I planned to take one in the morning.

6am came pretty quick (about 5 hours after we went to bed). After hitting the snooze a couple times, I got up at 6:20am to get a shower. I briefly explained to Erica how to work the phone as an alarm clock and she mumbled. I got back into the room almost ready to go at 6:46am (still dark in the room). Erica was moving slow… She made a valiant effort and we got out early enough to make it to the 7:30 service at the Duomo (brisk 15 minute walk).

The 7:30 service inside the Duomo was your typical Catholic mass, only in Italian and in an incredible cathedral. Neither one of us are morning people (ask our fellow co-workers about this), but both agreed it was worth the effort. I also took several pictures of the outside of the Duomo.

We then headed back to the B&B for our last B (i.e. included breakfast). It was good, especially after I was able to obtain silverware (cutlery, etc.) and another half cup of coffee. We then rested and packed for our 10:30am exit.

To the train station for Venezia! We made it to the train station with plenty of time and found an Internet place. Like most we have found in Firenze, they would not allow a laptop connection. This explains why these entries are not updated daily. We decided to use their computers for an hour to send out some needed emails and obtain some extra information.

Afterward, I made a phone call to Georgio to confirm our meeting tomorrow and also left a message at home. We then headed for the train and noticed they had not yet decided on a bin (or track number). We then used another buy 1, get 1 free McDonalds coupon. We had macedonia (fruit bowl), big mac, maxi coke, maxi fry and an athletico (double cheeseburger with funky bacon) for lunch (all at McDonalds). Their biggest Cokes are not so big. Who would have known that beverages are such a hot commodity in Italia?

Once finished, we had about 7 minutes before the 12:39pm departure time. Still no track number… Eventually it showed up on bin #8 and we made our way there. We boarded the train and were on our way via train for almost 3 hours (very pleasant, if not a bit too warm).

When the train attendant came by to check our tickets, he almost walked right by without even checking. They do not seem to pay close attention on who has paid for what. This reminds me of the bus in Firenze we rode without paying.

We made it to Venezia at about 3:40pm. We decided to immediately track down the hostel we are staying at, Palazzo Zenobio. The sun was very hot and the luggage was getting heavy. Erica was an expert navigator and got us to within a few steps of the hostel. It did not say Palazzo Zenobio anywhere, so I looked up the specific address number. Once we found the number, it still did not say Palazzo Zenobio. I did, however, notice a bell for last name Moorat which happened to match the email address for Palazzo Zenobio. That was it and we rang the buzzer to gain access (amazing how difficult they make this stuff).

The Palazzo Zenobio is an old building with great architecture. The hostel itself, however, is definitely dorm-room style and not the best accomodations. We are managing, but have to use bug spray at night to keep the mosquitos away. We got used to the surroundings, took a nap and then ventured out to find some dinner. Places are a bit pricier here for dinner – not that Firenze was cheap… We ended up at a pizza place called Ginos Pizzeria. It was good pizza, but the penne pasta for Erica was just so-so.

Afterwards, we found an Internet spot and stayed there for about 1.5 hours (10 euros). We were able to catch up these journal entries at blog.gregula.com, check email and also upload more pictures of the trip to the secure area at gregula.com. For some reason, the software we are using (and/or maybe blogger.com) is having difficulties with quotes, which means we must find and eliminate any quotes we may have accidentally used (which may explain why you are not seeing too many double-quotes or contractions).

Speaking of the emails, send us emails at the personal address for Gregg (will not post the actual address here since it invites automatic SPAM) and let us know how you like the journal entries thus far.

We then headed back to the hostel for much needed sleep. The last two days were quite long with only about 5 hours of sleep per night. Around 11:30pm, a massive fireworks display started and went on for 1.5 hours! It was quite incredible and we have been unable to determine why it was so large (except that it was a Saturday night in Venice). It does help explain why so many people were hanging out on the steps of the train station…

Question by rnhard7: Which is a better laptop. I will be using 4 basic needs at school and mainly to sell on ebay. The choices ..?
are between the Toshiba Satellite A205S5879 Dual-Core 200GB 15.4″ Ntbk with webcam n Case VERSUS the Gateway 17″ Dual Core, 2GB RAM, 160GB HD Laptop Computer with Webcam . Can anybody tell me the advantage of owning one from the other or the disadvantage. I want to get it today…FYI there was a 15.4″ of the gateway version(smaller) with same specs but numerous customer complaints on performance and service repair and customer service problems with gateway. How is Toshibas backing up their laptops, and would you prefer over gateway. Please let me knoe(help me out). Thank you very much. Oh the gateway is arpound 0 n Toshiba around 0….

I would go with the Toshiba below is how they are made. The only bad thing is if your Toshiba breaks down the parts are expensive.

Question by SouthCali4LifeSD: HELP!!! My laptop won’t sign on to the INTERNET but it’s connected???
Hi, my laptop shows that it is definitely connected to the internet and all my other computers in the network sign on the internet fine, but the laptop won’t. It just has the Connecting to IP 209.blah.blah.blah and never signs on and then has the “internet page not found” thing pop up.

So what I know.

The HP dv9000 17″ laptop (which is windows XP) shows that it is connected to the internet.
The other computers connect to the internet
The router and the plugs all work just fine, even the one on the computer that won’t connect to the internet, I tested it on other computers

Basically, what can be the problem and how can it be resolved? that would be tremendously appreciated. Thank you!
i typed the idconfig /all and it says node type is boroadcast and that ip rounding is not enabled and wins proxy is not enabled and it shows a lot of ip addresses. what should i be looking for?

What is the Default Gateway: 192.168.1.254
What is the Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

when i open web browser and type in 192.168.1.254, nothing happens. it’s trying to connect but nothing is coming up. no prompt, nothing.

default gateway on the old computer im using now is: 192.168.1.254 and ip address is 192.168.1.65

What is the Gateway on the working computers? and the IP addresses?

This isn’t Day 17 of 365 in terms of continuous days but given how busy I’ve been accessing back-up data and getting a new computer I’ve not had time. Anyway this is the new laptop – my lovely MacBook.
