These photos were taken during the first day of the "Future of Web Apps" conference in London, in Oct 2008. They don’t represent great art, or great photography; they were taken with a non-SLR digital camera, often with an inadequate amount of flash lighting, because I was too far away from the subjects. I’ve adjusted the exposure and color saturation as best I can, but the primary objective is simply to give you a feeling for the people and the activities that take place in today’s high-tech computer conferences. (Among other things, note that the preponderance of laptops in this gathering are Apple MacBooks.)

the one you have is better. the processor has 3x the l3 cache, faster fsb, ddr3 memory vs ddr2, and i really doubt you will fill up a 250gb drive.

Question by claireandmouse: How do I know if it is possible for my local computer tech to install Windows XP on a new Dell laptop?
I am looking at purchasing a new Dell Studio 17 Laptop. Unfortunately Dell is completely worthless in letting me know if after I removed Vista if the installation of XP would go alright? I would assume it would…but the techs at Dell all told me different things, so I don’t know what to believe? I work from home, and having Vista isn’t even an option…I don’t want to even THINK about another type of computer…this is what I want…but I need to know if XP will work on it. Any ideas?
(P.S….I was wondering if the reason they are hesitant to say is just b/c of marketing agreements, and also new features like the backlit keyboard that might not work with XP?)

Sure, they could do it, but you’re going to have to hand them a copy of XP to do it. They’re not going to use one of their own copies to do it.

This is my wife’s solution to my accumulated photography "junk" which was cluttering up our den. She was a dedicated soul. She not only picked it out, but allowed me to make the final choice between different "acceptable" units. Then she sanded and painted it herself. It is a computer armoire from a local unfinished furniture company. See the notes for more info.

Strobist: Taken with my Nikon Coolpix 5700 so I could have my D80 with 70-200 VR in the shot. Nuked the scene with Sunpak 383 through satin umbrella against the camera at camera left– sorry, but I didn’t note the power. Fired w/GI radio trigger.

Hello hello!

Upon looking up the specs. of that laptop i noticed they are pretty nice for the price! I’m assuming that you aren’t a hard core gamer which is good in this case, because they laptop cant handle a whole lot in the game department.

It does however have a nice amount of ram, and a pretty decent processor.

Now about your other question of site to store. If you can get the PC at the store then it is recommended. Site to store just makes it so that if they don’t have it in your Wal-Mart, then they will send it, so that you can pick it up from the Wal-Mart of your choosing. Hope this helps!

I love to play games on the computer. We subscribe to Shockwave.com. With our subscription we can download an unlimited amount of games to our computer. We have to have an Internet connection to play the games and it only works as long as we subscribe.

I love to play hidden-object games. They are incredibly addicting. I especially love games that have a story that goes along with it.

This is my current workspace. Not too much to see, but I like it. I don’t have any other place for my record player, so it has wound up here (I don’t really use that desk-space anyways [other than for record playing ]). The desktop is running vista business and has all three monitors connected to it.

6150 is just slow integrated graphics. Try lowest game setting, low resolution and 16bit color quality instead of 32bit. Also allocate maximum shared memory for graphics.

i have this wicked 17 inch lcd lg screen but i cant set it up, i connected the blue thing with the things u turn into the screen and into my laptop and i pluged the plug u plug into the wall into the screen but it still doesnt work

im sorry for sounding like an idiot but im really bad with computers, can anyone help

on your lsp top there is a funktion key FN right of the CTRL key press it it should give you the option to use a different monitor also depending on what GPA your using you should be able to right click on an empty place on your desk top open up your graphic card control panel and turn on from there make sure the monitor is pluged in snd turned on

Personally, I have a Toshiba and I love it. Its not as up to date as the ones you’re looking at, but its been great, since 2008 and still going (touch wood), which says a lot when you consider most modern things!!

If you’re not going to be using it for much, then just get whichever is the most basic. You can always buy a card reader separately, too.

Toshiba – Satellite Laptop with AMD Turion™ X2 RM-72 Dual-Core Mobile Processor – Onyx Blue if i would get the second one.. is it possible for me to get a program that allows me to be able to record on the recordless webcam lol!? but are there any suggestions for a laptop in the 700 dollar range? im broke lol.. my main reasons for wanting one is so when i get to college i will be prepared for homework and essays and whatever! i need get apps especially when it comes to internet and something that will truly be able to run the sims 3 seriously. lmao… but please reply as soon as possible.

Go for the Toshiba. i had one and it was a great computer! I now have a Dell, and I will never buy a Dell again. They mess up your computer from the start, by installing all types of crap ware! Go with the Toshiba, and buy a separate web cam, since interrogated web cams are usually not that great, and are poor quality.
